You Were Born Painting

"You Were Born" is made with encaustic medium and mixed media techniques and has approximately 30 layers of pigmented beeswax and demar resin. The piece is 40" x 40" x 3" and is mounted in a repurposed frame made from floor joists from a factory in Downtown Toronto, on Queen Street West. Hanging Hardware is included. "You Were Born" was inspired by a song performed by Cloud Cult that captured my attention. The need to create a piece inspired by this song was so strong that the pull to do it felt magnetic. The colours and style chosen for this piece were directly tied to the feelings, sensations and mood that this song elicited within my soul. This song represents a period in my life where a monumental transformation took place inside of me. The song lyrics are listed below: You were born into a strange world.
