You will Never Walk Alone Painting

Paint is Sophie's favourite medium, she loves the continual learning of what can be achieved with paint. Landscapes offer endless possibilities through colour, texture and paint, seeking new compositions of shapes and light within the landscapes. Environments inform her work; while living in different parts of the world, each new environment has inspired her. Creating different ways to portray what's around, seeing it for the first time yet evoking a distant memory of something past. 
 Painting ideas form and take shape whilst Sophie enjoys her other passion, running. She absorbs the surroundings while composition and intent are formed before the making process begins. She then uses photographs and sketches taken/drawn by her to begin her paintings back in the studio. Sophie works in a range of sizes, especially loving painting large scale pieces. She attempts to capture a movement and moment in time by using her whole body to paint. Oil paints are thinned and drawn with, allowing layers of colours and depth to build, inviting the viewer to feel part of the landscape. 
 Colours, landscapes, spaces and the emotion nature create are the catalyst for Sophie to paint. Her love for the outdoors is the essence of her work, taking what’s on offer and highlighting the energy while interpreting how it’s viewed. Her paintings have an underlying familiarity, personal to the artist; yet they evoke a memory or experience to the viewer.
