This is a blend of fragments painted and fragments of Nepalese paper. The fragment's textures are very different each other. Some are glossy other are mat, some are coarse and rough, other are thin. By using the repetition of the same figures and a chromatic palette close to nature, I wanted to create something peaceful, calm, serene.

Born in Bucharest (Romania), Marina Hirlea graduated from The School of Fine Arts at the University of Strasbourg, France. She has lived for several years in Montpellier, then in Mèze in southern France, where her artist studio is located. Artistic approach: Marina’s work is mainly non-figurative oil on canvas, inspired by natural and urban landscape, and by the abundant fabrics of haute couture creators. While painting she tries to reach out for her inner core, and by purifying the shapes and forms that she creates she allows the viewer to derive their own stories with each and every glance. The monochrome canvases, such as “Winter landscape” and “Pong” (visible on the website), are elaborated in detail and thickness, and inspire to viewer tranquility and meditation. The wealth of the details and the abounding colors of polychrome paintings, their lace shapes, would like to convey the idea that beauty is just as omnipresent as the more somber aspects of daily life.
