The painting by Filip Gruszczyński offers the viewer, who stands in front of the artist's canvas, not only extraordinary aesthetic but also intellectual experiences. It is an art full of references to history, cultural texts and works of Great Art, masterfully composed (almost like a piece of music), according to specific rules of rhythm, elegant and sublime - in the arrangement of lines, in the selection of colors. Filip Gruszczyński, as an artist and a human being, remains extremely sensitive to a wide spectrum of cultural works. In his compositions, however, we will not find shallow references, thoughtless quotes, but an authentic experience, feeling and, above all, a personal interpretation of the opus with which the painter had contact. The biblical story of the vision of the prophet Ezekiel comes to life, it becomes closer to us. Music sneaks into the canvases - classical or modern (jazz), it determines the rhythm, arrangement of lines, and the relationship of individual elements to each other. The aesthetics of Polish art déco is used as a pretext to search for new formal solutions, the subtlety of Italian quattrocento painting acquires a contemporary, characteristically cubist face. In this way, extraordinary images are created - synesthetically stimulating the various senses of the recipient, encouraging him to intimately re-experience stories and tales often known only superficially, and satisfy his innate need for beauty - neglected in times of brutalism, new media and the aesthetics of ugliness. There is something unusual in the form of paintings by Filip Gruszczyński. One would like to see in them horror vacui, profusion of compositional elements, the effect of a broken mirror. And yet - despite the strong geometrization, post-Picasso deformation of figures, unstoppable movement and dynamics - we find in them a mysterious peace, a peculiar harmony, a contribution to contemplation. Perhaps this is due to the subtle, delicate color palette used by the artist. Or maybe it is their unprecedented rhythm, derived from music, broken, avant-garde - and yet melodic, muted, full of nuances - soothing the viewer's eye. In Filip Gruszczyński's paintings we see Forte - but we hear Piano. Filip Gruszczyński's art is "free". The artist's paintings consciously resist viewers' expectations, reject the established assumptions of critics and reviewers. There is no "Filip Gruszczyński's style".
