maansi jain is a Berlin-based artist, creative director, photographer and writer specializing in interdisciplinary documentary and conceptual projects. S/he was born in Munich and grew up between Paris (FR), Texas (US) and Delhi (IND) before undertaking studies on photography at the Sorbonne, semiotics, french and art at New York University in NYC, Paris, & Berlin, and game theory at the University of Pennsylvania. As of 2023, Jain's documentary practice is flush with lidar, photogrammetry and 3d scanning; their art practice has meandered into the carbon neutral Tezos blockchain, whilst continuing with digital and analog photography; Jain's poetry samples traditions of language and code; has a blossoming curatorial practice; mediums spanning installation, performance, sound, oil pastel, water color, ai generated imagery, and found materials. Often, their colorful, energetic imagery, sculpture, and installation examines power structures and universal desires through play, glitch, and a scientific method which hold space for post-binary methodologies. Jain's work has been published and exhibited widely in Europe, the United States, and India. S/he often asks an audience to reconsider so-called personal imagery and renders abstracted views of private moments to renegotiate and reconsider how visual articulations can appear shattered and yet contain shared realities and imply broader notions of consumption, identity and cultural hegemony through their very fragmentation. Selected clients include: Nike, Salomon, T-Mobile, WIRED, and Eckhaus Latta.
