this artwork is made up of wooden blocks that have been painted seperately, with layers of oil paint, then attached to create a grid of color. The process of layering the paint was in search of a Rothko effect where the layers of color underneath cannot be seen as much as felt or imagined. I added a plexiglas cover which floats 1/4" above the blocks and painted the plexiglas with black ink. This artwork is signed on the back and there is a attachment in place for easy hanging.

More than 20 years ago, I left New York for Amsterdam. The move, the city, the change in culture and of course the light influenced my new course. My focus from the fashion world moved quickly to the art world. In New York I studied at the Art Students League and graduated from FIT. In Amsterdam I graduated from the Wackers Academie. My work focuses on color relationships and shapes found in nature — landscapes, trees, clouds, and the changing colors of the season. It can be a small detail that starts the process which dictates the shapes, and then the conversation with color begins. The shapes contained within the composition are intuitive — one shape informing the next; one color dictating what color will follow. Working mostly in pastels but more recently I have diversified into other mediums.
