ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This painting was inspired from a series of abstracted landscapes that i created in pastel. I borrowed the forms from the landscapes and gave them the freedom to float alone and interact with other shapes and colors. Changing the medium from pastel to oil and using a larger format gave the composition its boldness.

More than 20 years ago, I left New York for Amsterdam. The move, the city, the change in culture and of course the light influenced my new course. My focus from the fashion world moved quickly to the art world. In New York I studied at the Art Students League and graduated from FIT. In Amsterdam I graduated from the Wackers Academie. My work focuses on color relationships and shapes found in nature — landscapes, trees, clouds, and the changing colors of the season. It can be a small detail that starts the process which dictates the shapes, and then the conversation with color begins. The shapes contained within the composition are intuitive — one shape informing the next; one color dictating what color will follow. Working mostly in pastels but more recently I have diversified into other mediums.
