Tim Scott, was born on July 2, 1941. He graduated from The Cleveland Institute of Art in 1967 with a degree in graphic design and minors in painting and photography. He spent the next 48 years working in art firms in Cleveland, Ohio (1967-1973), Chicago, Illinois (1973-1994) and Waynesboro, Virginia (1994-2015). When he wasn't applying his talents to his clients' needs, he enjoyed painting and ceramics. Over those years, he created more than 500 pieces. Tim passed away in May 2015 after a battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Trudy, sister Linda, sons Matt (Stacey) and Noah (Jennifer), daughter Sarah (Chris Gomez), and his best friend, Michael Barnes. He lived a big life and is dearly missed by countless friends and extended family. I consider the years I spent working side by side with my dad one of my life's greatest treasures. I started working at his company, The Retouching Company, in Chicago in 1989. Over the next 26 years, he taught me much of what I know today. We worked together in graphic design firms and later at our family-owned sign shop. When he retired from the sign business in 2009, I launched Oryx Designs, but was thankful to have his continued guidance and support. When he died, my family was left with more paintings than we can enjoy in our own homes. We are featuring a selection here.
