b.1984. Isleworth, Hounslow. Married. "As far as my painting is concerned, my work generally comes to fruition out of a necessity to express what can be described as internal psychological conflict or contradictions through the vehicle of essentially ambiguous, nonrepresentational forms. The paintings that I produce are primarily and unavoidably expressive. Furthermore, I would say that they are also incidentally, but no less significantly, decorative. Since almost the entirety of the visual compositions arise from the much-maligned intuitive and irrational internal impulse, the work can be described as personal, in a sense, necessarily autobiographical. Other works are representational and documentary. My approach to painting is at root traditional in that there is no interjection or pretence of conceptual ideas. In my opinion postmodernist methods of viewing and understanding art are often either predictably impenetrable or insipidly vacuous. (Frank Zappa's comments concerning the futile nature of verbalising music comes to mind.) Though I am hesitant to polemicise about conceptual art, I do find the relentless linguistic obscurantism of the present postmodern, post-conceptual epoch, and the fervour of it's advocates to cause me to be endlessly drawn towards either craft and design aspects of fine art practice or documentation, amongst which I feel my work ultimately belongs. Influences on my artwork would have to include Austin Osman Spare, Matthew Ritchie, Francis Bacon, Wassily Kandinsky, Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró, German expressionist film and film noir and the Outsider Art, Art Brut and folk art 'movements', the occult and esoteric traditions, Heavy Metal and Punk Rock musicians and others."
