About The Artwork

The second photo belonging to the "Do not forget" series, composed in total of 3 works in memory of New York's events of September 11, 2001. This photograph, called "Do not forget 2" as the next one, was taken by Maurizio Paolo Grassi in 1992. The first photo of the series was resumed in 1990. Compared to the first, the two later works vary in the field Framed and in particular this photo shows the composition of the two towers and the black marble sculpture at the base integrated into a visual visual structure. The sculpture, which in the first work was represented with the primary form of an Egyptian pyramid, is represented in this image by a series of trabeats intersecting the two prisms of the twin towers. The original photographs were filmed on 35 mm film. The work is made in 9 unique and original copies created directly by the artist's hand on pure cotton watercolor paper. The picture shows two photographs of the performance performed during the production of the resin-pigment type printing used exclusively by Maurizio Paolo Grassi. "This new photo taken at the base of twin towers was performed during the second photographic analysis, two years after the previous one. With this shot I wanted to interact with the visual composition of the architectural and sculptural elements I faced, putting them in relation to each other. In particular, I tried to link the two towers that are visually distinct and separate, with the "beams" represented by black marble sculpture. In this way I wanted to create a new integrated architectural body that includes the sculpture, the towers and the shadow that one project on the other. I used a polarizer to create the contrast between the part of the tower lit by the sun and the sky background. " Technical information 1. Paper: Hand-sensitized pure cotton watercolor card 2- Measure: 56 × 75 cm 3. Printing: Fully manual in Resino-pigment type. Each copy is original and different from the others 4. Image: Mixture of natural powder pigment unalterable by light applied by hand. 5. Certificate: LE-Strip embedded in print with serial number, title, date, signature, QR code and window. 6. Date: 2017 7. Informazioni tecniche 1. Carta: Cartoncino acquerello in puro cotone sensibilizzato a mano 2- Misura: 56×75 cm 3. Stampa: Completamente manuale in Resino-pigmentype. Ogni copia è originale e diversa dalle altre 4. 6. Data: 2017 7. Totale copie: 9

Paolo Grassi was born in Tuscany and began photographing at a very young age in an analytical manner starting from 1976, after studying photographic technique and lighting based on the experiences of Andreas Feininger and Ansel Adams. For about 15 years, he explored the elements of nature and people through the filter of photographic film with a 35mm reflex camera, which, due to its compactness, accompanied him daily for many years in his visual exploration. Many images were captured on film, and only a small portion was personally printed in black and white in a darkroom. A significant aspect of this period is the photographic research conducted in Sardinia in 1979 (the year of the kidnapping of singer-songwriter Fabrizio De André in Gallura), where he interpreted and documented the environment, traditions, and faces of the people in black and white.
