I made this photograph on a whim from the happenstance encounter of two Bismarck palm fronds laying on the ground in the conservatory at Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden. The intersecting lines and the resulting patterns reminded me of Art Deco architecture. For a minute, they really aren't even palm fronds anymore. Limited, first edition (2020) of 10 prints only. Giclée print on Hahnemühle Photo Rag® with a 2-inch white border. Size described above includes photograph + margin. I offer limited edition fine art prints of my images and define the editions by year and format. Each print is signed and numbered beneath the image within the cropping margins. Each print is inspected for accuracy and quality prior to shipment.

Kelly D. Norris is one of the leading horticulturists of his generation. As a planting designer in public and private space, he explores the intersections of people, plants and place through ecological, site-specific design and art. An award-winning author and plantsman, Kelly’s work in gardens has been featured in The New York Times, Better Homes and Gardens, Martha Stewart Living, Fine Gardening, Garden Design and in numerous television, radio and digital media appearances. His most recent book New Naturalism: Designing and Planting a Resilient, Ecologically Vibrant Home Garden debuted in January 2021 from Cool Springs Press. As an artist and photographer, Kelly's work depicts plants and landscapes in a way that challenges the viewer's perception and understanding of the subject. His photographs span the gamut from surrealistic and abstract to journalistic and representational. Kelly's interest in and knowledge of plants, their life history and relationships to Earth, is revealed across the spectrum of his work, inviting contemplation and curiosity.
