Beauty Becomes Me - Limited Edition of 10 Photograph

In my ongoing body of work 'MY OWN IDENTITY', I aim to explore and show African men that identify as anything other than the stereotypical 'strong black african man' To show how they truly see themselves, how they love and what their current identities can look like when they shed the weight of societal expectations and show up in an authentic form; I am exploring what freedom of expression can look like for gender benders when they own their realities in countries and in a continent that has told them that men can not identify as anything other than the stereotypical strong African black man; that any other reality outside of that is evil and should be abhorred. Where difference in being can not only cost one freedom but more times than none, own life. In this body of work, I aim to show that other ways of identifying exist and I aim to document them so that they won't be erased from history. I am inspired by my past, by my communities - the one that is permitted and also by the one that is not permitted.
