For more than 15 years I am working on my particular way of turning all-day-photography into collage. All my works are parts of a since then grown series. My collages always consist of one single, but modified, multiple times mirrored photographic picture. Due to a special technique I overlay the...

„Photography is the art to show more than there is seen.“ „What is it, that makes Röpkes work so irresistible ? What makes me stick to one collage and scroll over the other? Röpkes kaleidoscopes create individual an universal happiness and spontaneous exclamations like „wow“ seem normal. The intoxicating effect of Röpkes art is more than a conjunction of science and art, it is the amalgamation of spirit and soul. The viewer gets startet to solve the enigma which he is given. He asks himself „What do I see?“ „What’s behind it?“ As humans we want to find answers, Röpkes works animate us to do just that. His fascinating imagery has meditative and therapeutic potential. For the viewers phantasy his tableaus are calming and inspiring both at a time. This is the fascination of Röpkes work.“ Ullrich Sorbe --------------------------------------------------- Thomas Roepkes art with its sparkling radiance and its peculiarly vibrating tranquility performs a very special attraction on me. The huge templates show the meticulous handwriting of an experienced designer who keeps himself busy with urban places and puts them out of reality. Some of his compositions have a rather strict structure, others appear almost fluffy through their asymmetry. But always the remote effect is enormous and they call me to step near and take a closer look. Doing so, I discover details which are memories and longings codified in places and spaces. I can imagine Roepkes art to be solitary hung in narrowly designed interiors, correlating with concrete, wood and restrained colours. But I do also see them in eclectic living spaces with a certain amount of different surfaces and figurative accessory. In daylight the colours are shining and powerful, in an evening candlelight they silently step forward shimmering. Bergith Lassen, art direction + design When looking at the caleidoscopes by Röpke childhood memories get evoked. Fascinated by the possibilities I used to look through those telescopes and couldn‘t get enough of creating new facets of reality and picturing the world the way I liked it the most. With the most modern technology Röpke creates his caleidoscope-artworks today. Through their centre they invite the viewer to dive into an adventurous phantasy world - as if you were looking through a time tunnel - and discover new things everywhere.
