"ARCHITECTURE PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR / INTERNATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY AWARDS (IPA) 2020" Jesus Chamizo is a photographer known for his series about architecture. Chamizo’s work is characterized by an interest in the tracks human beings leave behind in this world, architecture figuring prominently here. Chamizo builds images based on the emotions that space produces through lines, angles, light, perspectives and shapes. These elements are mostly visible in details of the buildings and they become protagonists of the compositions. In the series dedicated to the architect Antonio Palacios, Chamizo focuses on the constructions that transformed Madrid during the early 20th Century into a modern capital: the Communication Palace(Townhall), Círculo de Bellas Artes, Casino de Madrid, Banco Español del Río de la Plata(Instituto Cervantes), Casa Palazuelo and Casa Matesanz, are some of the most emblematic buildings of Madrid. The eclectic style of the architect Antonio Palacios, combining elements from Plateresco, Viennese Secessionist architecture and the School of Chicago, is what really attracts the attention of the photographer. Chamizo’s lens enhances and transforms these elements into different compositions where buildings are shown in a non-conventional way and depicting new spaces, thus turning the photographer into an architect of images. Jesus Chamizo has been linked to the arts from an early age, studying photography in different schools. He is the winner of many national and international awards such as Cannes, Lux, Fiap, New York Festival and Lux Bronce among many others. Laura Galban "Jesús Chamizo: The Architect of images"
