About The Artwork

Inspired by the work of Monet & Van Gough, this is an abstract of tree bark. Designed as a contemporary work it will add colour to any environment & be a guaranteed conversation piece. Printed onto the back of 6mm toughened glass, the work is mounted onto the wall with four aluminium standoffs at each corner. This enables the light to pass through the print, creating a coloured shadow on the wall behind. Jennie's work is the result of many hours spent in two London Royal Parks - Bushy Park and Richmond Park - where the artist has studied how the differing seasons and daily light conditions affect the abstractions.

I am a photographer who challenges the limits of photography. I do not view photography as a unitary medium, but one that can be utilised to produce innovative artistic works. My work also uniquely considers visual aesthetics & the realisation of the subconscious by revealing the unseen. My photographic specialisms are abstract & portrait photography. My abstract images are based on photographs taken of wood, stone, water & other surfaces. These images are then printed on non-traditional substrates (specifically metal, glass and silk). My portrait photography is also abstract & printed on these substrates. I have a fascination with light, patterns & colour. I also investigate how the substrate used reacts with the ambient light to change the colours within an image. My work harks back to the initial forms of printing photographs such as Daguerreotypes, Tintypes and Ambrotypes. My influences include Post-Impressionism, Surrealism & Art Nouveau. Artists whose processes, concepts & techniques that are echoed in my work are Vincent Van Gogh, Claude Monet, Salvador Dali and JMW Turner. My photographic influences include Duane Michals, Bill Brandt & Ernst Haas. I am also influenced by the installation work of Lisa West, Brian Clarke, David Spriggs & Olafur Eliasson.
