About The Artwork

The public place (Federal Plaza) enclosed by high-rise office buildings and a red steel-made sculpture (Flamingo) at the center of the place made me surprised at first stance. The Flamingo, created and installed by noted American artist Alexander Calder in 1973, is one of the most well-known art pieces installed in a modern plaza. It is a 53-foot tall stable located in the Federal Plaza in front of the Kluczynski Federal Building.
