CRUNCH, CHRUNCH, CHRUNCH, WHO'S NIBBLING ON MY LITTLE HOUSE? The CCCWNOMLH photography is part of the HETEROTOPIA project and is the result of the artist's repeated strolling in one square mile of a forest in south France. HETEROTOPIA Time and space occupy a central position in Martin Ecker's works. In Heterotopia, Ecker negotiates Foucault's approach that heterotopias are counter-places that suspend the everyday functions of living space. A utopia can also exist without a place, while heterotopias represent places that exist in reality, but because of their exclusivity lie outside of all places and thus outside of perception. Captured in photographic multiple exposures, the negotiation between utopia and heterotopia takes place. In the process, the motifs become spaces of reflection, mirrors of ourselves and the chance to enter into a relationship with others. Martin Ecker (*1963 in Frankfurt am Main Germany) lives and works in Berlin. Ecker began his artistic work as a musician at the age of 14, later adding performance and acting until he began to work with painting, photography and video art. Martin Ecker is a German photographer and painter who has devoted much of his work to deciphering the reaction of chance and intention. His fascination with experimenting with reactive processes is of great importance: the observation, the action and reaction, the staging. In addition, Ecker has developed unique methods, such as the use of living organisms in photography or oxidation processes in painting. Space, time and light are recurring themes. His works can be found in international collections, companies, private collectors and art lovers.
