About The Artwork

The Composition Series is based on Kepler’s Platonic Universe, the Mysterium Cosmographicum (1596), a Platonic solid model of the solar-centred system. The series explores the universe and the mathematical patterns we find within it - from the micro to the macro. The infinite illusions and geometry invite us to contemplate our connected and infinite world and our place within it. The piece comes with a power supply and remote control to control the colour of the lights inside. Perfect to add sparkle in any home or as a gift for someone special. About Aphra Shemza: Aphra Shemza is a UK-based multimedia artist. She is the granddaughter of the well-known abstract painter Anwar Jalal Shemza. Inspired by her grandfather, her work explores Modernism, her Islamic cultural heritage, sustainable practice and creating art for all. As an artist and activist, she finds ambitious ways to fuse methodologies from the past with new innovations in technology to imagine what the role of art could be in the future. Commissions: Canary Wharf Group, Champagne Louis Roederer, Save the Children & Morley College. Exhibitions: V&A, British Council, Ars Electronica & Winter Light Festival. Talks: Tate Britain, Courtauld Institute, National Gallery and British Library.
