ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This artwork is part of an ongoing project in Berlin titled 8am Walks. It is a project structured by a simple instruction: Leave the house at 8am with a camera and walk. This ongoing photographic series seeks out the overlooked and the discarded within Germany's (often) grey capital and catalogues a specific time of day with a unique pattern of light. Taken as part of a daily routine over the course of over 6 years, images from this series bring greater exposure to the patterns, repetitions, and coincidences that disrupt the dull. Print specifications: Archival Pigment Print on Hahnemühle Pearl Print dimensions: 70cm (w) x 100cm (h) Frame: Tray Frame, Walnut Editions of: 10

Jeremy is a British artist addressing urbanism, surveillance, public space, and environmental change within his projects, which range in expression from photography, sound, and video art to installation and public intervention. He holds a BA in Photography from Camberwell College of Art and a Foundation Diploma in Art & Design from Oaklands College of Art. Since 2016, Jeremy has been based in Berlin, where his practice has developed into a playful study of the built environment and the everyday. Jeremy’s projects draw patterns and humour from the randomness and repetitive non-events that characterise the mundane within our lives – the overlooked and often unnoticed aspects of our existence that make us human. By bringing greater prominence and visibility to the accidental, the miraculous, and the comical, we are challenged by Jeremy’s projects and photo series to reconsider the weight of our daily interactions with things and people and to meditate on what happens when we think nothing is happening. Jeremy regularly exhibits his projects in institutions across Germany and Europe. His work has also been included in group shows in China, Russia, and the USA. In 2018, Jeremy was shortlisted for BLOOOM Award in Germany. In 2019, he attended the residency program In-Between #4 at Green Hill Gallery, Berlin, and was later shortlisted for the Signature Art Prize in London. In 2020, Jeremy participated in two collaborative art projects - Neukölln Stories, organised by nomadicArt in Berlin, and RAUM SPACE Festival, which was held in Kaliningrad. Earlier in 2020, Jeremy was shortlisted for the Verzasca Foto Awards in Switzerland and awarded the ReA! Art Prize in Milan. He featured in the publication FRESH EYES - New European Photography later that year and in the winter exhibited his photography at Photo Kyiv. In 2021, Jeremy contributed to group exhibitions in Berlin and Milan and facilitated a workshop in public space for 48 Stunden Neukölln in Berlin. Jeremy’s first solo installation show, YOU ARE HERE, was presented in 2021 at DISKURS Gallery. In 2022, Jeremy was awarded funding from Stiftung Kunstfonds and Neustart Kultur and participated in group shows in Berlin. He ran a public VR experience for 48 Stunden Neukölln and facilitated a workshop for Ph.D. students at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.
