A visionary who gave us a first glimpse of the idea of universal computation, Lovelace was drawn to abstract ways of thinking using ‘poetical science.’ Her thwarted potential, passion and imaginative intuition, have made her a powerful symbol for modern women in technology. Enchantress Of Number (Ode To Ada Lovelace) was created by constructing a hand-cut collage using female photographic portraiture, photographs of an antique tin toy horse and photograms of insect wings. After coating the handmade paper with ligh​t-sensitive chemistry, it is left to dry in a dark room. The large scale negative is then contact printed onto the paper by exposing to daylight (UV rays). The print is then processed by thoroughly washing in water to remove any unexposed solution. It can then be hung to dry, developing to full density Prussian blue after 24 hours. Dimensions

 We use float mounting for all of our framed cyanotypes. The artwork floats above a snow-white 8001 mount board, to showcase the paper texture and deckled edging.​​​ Framing 
Framed artwork will arrive ready to hang. Float mounted in a bespoke, handmade extra large circular frame. The frame is a deep box frame, museum-grade, UV protected, anti-reflective glass-fronted and with a smooth black finish. This is part of the "Women Who Discovered The World" collection, celebrating females in the field of natural history and science. Ones who particularly inspire me, deserve to be recognised and celebrated as powerful figures in time. I want to visually tell a story with each piece to celebrate the lives of these amazing women using portraiture, symbolism and surrealism. I expose all my pieces in natural light for up to a couple of weeks. Printing in all weather conditions, doing everything by eye and in the most organic way possible, this enables me to be at one with each piece I create.
