Biography If you had told 12-year-old honor student Kam Khan from Peoria, Illinois, that some day down the road he would photograph NFL and NBA athletes, travel internationally performing as an actor, work with an Academy Award winner, share stories with an Olympic Gold medalist, and walk behind Michael Jordan in a bar in Los Angeles, he probably would have revealed a bucktoothed grin and said he would rather be a Jedi. Though George Lucas hasn't cast him yet and his early childhood dream remains unfulfilled for now, today Kam uses the "force" to create unique imagery that pushes the boundaries of photography. Based in New York City, Kam was recently selected as a finalist in PDN Magazine's PIX Digital Imaging Contest in the "New Talent of 2010" category for his self portrait series, "Life Begins at 2AM". The series was born from one sleepless night when Kam combined his skills as an actor, photographer, martial artist, and writer to tell a visual story with a single image. Like a major motion picture production, the audience peels back the layers of his artistically complex photographs to see how the story unfolds. Kam's dynamic movement and lighting techniques have garnered him a spot as guest lecturer for The Aperture Group and have been captured in his Behind the Scenes blog: . Among his commercial clients are the New York Jets' James Ihedigbo's Official NFL Player site and the Utah Jazz's CJ Miles' Official NBA Player site, as well as New York fashion designers Marbey and Seviah. In the rare moments when Kam is not shooting, he can be seen in Wajahat Ali's critically acclaimed play, The Domestic Crusaders. He is also hard at work on an original screenplay, "Ground Zed", which just placed as a quarter finalist in Francis Ford Coppola's American Zoetrope Screenplay Contest out of over 2,400 entries. Kamran hopes that George will come calling soon.
