Floods, Flocks & Droughts. A water surface on the land becomes the site of what seems a spontaneous generation of life: wave upon wave of organized animal herds and crows of people descend in rhythmic turns to the cool pleasures of bath and drink; flock of seagulls, shellfish gatherers, volleyball or football players, then a few tentative mixtures of groups in decidedly nonrandom order and pairing. The word flock is here to refer to the capacity of any living process to mark and transform its environment which determines its capacity to organize, affect, and move. Something magical happens through these uses of water that points out the transformation of the territory because of the invention of novel cooling systems, as Standford Kwinter mentioned about combustible landscapes. The new environment heat placed unprecedented stress on the animal to keep cool. Most of this heat takes place on land, transforming its appearance into a vague landscape with an intense reddish hue using incandescent and mercury vapor lighting, going further the red visible channel. The invention of a novel air-conditioning system constitutes the defining feature of the emergence of the human species. The sea as the principal cooling resource remains practically untouchable during the night surrounded by fluorescent lights and does not seem to be affected by this endless artificial day in the city. The sea remains in the blue channel toward to UV channel in deep sea by night. Each light radiation -ultraviolet or infrared- can be used in a different way to help in emergency situations such as floods or droughts, respectively; they are looking at how a balance can be found between the land and the sea.

• Photographer, illustrator and architect, works and lives in Madrid. She founded Cjcpaisaje in 2007 (). Visual art & Landscape architecture office focus on how energy, lighting and water resources can determine the sustainable design of bank, health, sports and airport facilities, drawing inspiration from the total diversity offered by the visual arts. All these wide range of environments are researched in the Cjcpaisaje’s works where she also analyses how each light radiation –ultraviolet, monofrequency or infrared- can be used in a different way to help in emergency situations such as floods, light pollution or droughts, respectively. This is carried out by means of photography, illustration and landscape interventions, looking at how a balance can be found between the land and the sea. Through tonal range, inversions and manual manipulation, her photographies capture human and no-human activities; all involve them powerfully in atmospheric landscapes. Her work has been exhibited at important institutions such as Gallery of Science and Technology of Belgrad, Convention Centre of Strasburg, Map Photo11 Tolouse, COAC Barcelona, Joaquin Roncal Centre in Zaragoza and Circulo de Bellas Artes de Madrid. She has been honored by several awards such as Grand Prix in 6th LAE in Belgrad.
