Photography, cyanotype on Paper
Size: 11.5 W x 11 H x 0.1 D in
Ships in a Box
Printed on Kozo washi paper (made from a type of mulberry tree) at approximately 11 inches x 11 1/2 inches using John Hershel's original 1842 Cyanotype process. The print was then developed using my own "Welch Method" which, to my knowledge, is a pioneering technique for working with cyanotypes printed on such fragile papers. The print was then selectively bleached by hand before being toned in my own triple-filtered black tea toning solution. Archival life for cyanotypes is speculated to extend indefinitely with proper care. This print ships with a hand-cut 15 inch x 13 1/2 inch archival storage matte suitable for mounting. However, my cyanotypes on washi paper truly shine, quite literally "glow", when mounted in a back-illuminated double glass frame. Signed and dated, this print is a true one-of-a-kind hallmark that presents a unique method of printing.
