ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Are we experiencing the era of unification of humanity now? A thesis of the highly esteemed historian Yuval Noah Harari. And if so: what is our contribution? And what place will religion and the church - in the context of the current abuse scandal and pressure for reform - have in future in society? Is man creating his own paradise on earth - or is he getting away? Is Christ still ideal and idol and leading figure for him - or just a nice fairy tale figure? Are the churches and religions still playing a role - or is the next generation only paying homage to the Deus digitalis?

Born 1965 in Rehrenao. Living and working in Hildesheim, near Hannover. Aesthetic divergence enables an aura of mystery, a story that is inherent in the picture and awaits discovery. Painting cannot and should not replace reality. Rather, it creates a superordinate reality, the impulse for the course of a unique action that takes shape in the mind of the viewer. In this way, every chosen section of the picture leads to a different collection of details that decisively change the substance of a story experienced by the viewer, because it is precisely these details that bring a picture to life. This can happen through direct eye contact between the people depicted, an opening background that leads the eye into the picture (birkenallee, jurmala), through unusual perspectives that demand interaction between the viewer and the picture (space cowl, woMEN) or the discovery of historical commonplaces in new contexts (voyage 41, voyage 07, ein tag im frühling, die goldene gans, helene). Painting can only provide an impulse - the associations with reality arise in the mind of the viewer and always reflect a different view of the world.
