The World's fastest shark, the mako, fell to endangered status in 2019. Due to their advanced age of reproduction (19-21 years), it is expected that populations will continue to decline until 2035, even with full protection. Photographed in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, a suspected reproduction area and one of the few remaining locations worldwide with significant populations. While makos are known as a top apex predator, they are a delight to photograph and are highly inquisitive around the camera. 15% of print profits from this image directly support mako conservation within the Sea of Cortez. Artwork is crafted by a master printmaker on Hahnemuehle Fine Art paper for museum grade archival quality. Prints are signed and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
