Maurizio Ruggiano (b. Palermo, 1966) attended the Fine Arts Academy in Palermo and the Faculty of Fine Arts in Valencia, Spain, where he spent a period training. Since the end of the 1990s his artistic work has been characterized by multiplicity of expressive means - painting, photo, video, computer graphics, by continual recycling of objects and discarded materials, and by direct language that mixes rawness and candour. He has participated in exhibitions in various cities in Spain, in Rotterdam, London and Rome, as well as in Sicilian cities. As musical advisor he has collaborated for a long time on the scenery with theatrical groups like Teates, the puppet theatre of Anna Cuticchio, and the puppet theatre of Mimmo Cuticchio, and he has done volunteer activity with the children of poor districts of Palermo. In 2011 with Kali Jones and the poet Adonis he did the video installation "The Certainty of the Shadow", presented at MACC in Caltagirone, at the Piana dei Colli Art Centre, and at the Gibellina Orestiadi Foundation.
