About The Artwork

Fine Art Premium Print on Hahnemühle paper with a tiny white border. Limited edition of 5. Comes with a certificate of authenticity, edition no. and signature. From the Series 'Masters Remodeled'. A figure contemplating infinity is a genuine romantic motif as seen at the famous Caspar David Friedrich painting 'Monk by the Sea'. In the process of remodeling I altered the color setting and subsequently duplicated the motif. In 1787 Goethe visited Rome and stayed with his friend, the painter Tischbein, who made a drawing of the poet looking out of the window. From this drawing I gained the second contemplating figure and thus created a new work 'Goethe mit Blick auf die Romantik'. By the way, Goethe himself didn't like the romanticists

Once a scholar, now a photographer: After retiring, Hans Carl Finsen, a professor of German, has started a new career as a fine art photographer. Actually, he has been practicing photography for decades, but not until now sought an audience. His debut was in 2013. Lives and works in Aarhus, Denmark. As a photographer Finsen is looking for aesthetically interesting, thrilling, appealing or pleasing constellations. In the quest for these constellations he doesn't confine himself to certain subjects or a certain style. He moves in all directions where inspiration takes him and so his work is diversified. Nevertheless three focus points are discernible: 1 architecture and townscape 2 the art museum. He visits museums worldwide to get inspired by interiors and exteriors, works of art, visitors and the view from the museum 3 masters. He remodels, remasters, modifies and combines old and new masters creating the series 'Masters Remodeled' alphahc@mail8.dk https://hcfinsen.myportfolio.com
