ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This Cyanotype was inspired by plants in my mom's garden. I took cuttings from her garden and placed them on watercolor paper that had been coated with chemicals when dried, turns the paper into photo paper. I then placed the paper in the sun with the plants on the paper and moved the plants around to get a triple exposure effect. Once paper is washed, it turns a Prussian Blue. This is a relaxing piece to hang in a room where you need a moment of zen.

I'm starting the second act of my life through the lens of my camera and an interest in the alternative photography processes from cyanotype, a historic process from 1842 where photography is developed in a cyan blue tone, digital intentional camera movement, where photographs look like abstract paintings, glitch, deconstructing photography, and digital manipulation of my work adding unique color hues giving an other worldly look to landscapes. I have a photography love of botanical, landscapes and items with lots of contrast and imperfections which makes for beautiful photographs. I love that after raising my two daughters, being known as mom, employee, wife, and care giver, that I am now a photographer and an artist.
