HOLD SPACE Photograph

Before I knew I was going to be an artist, I took pictures on my father's 35mm camera on a family trip to the Grand Canyon. Through the years, I lost and found these negatives several times. The last time I found them, I had the where-with-all to scan them in immediately. This year I was able to print one of the images directly onto Mylar with a large format printer to create this mural sized piece. This piece consists of a gesso-ed wood panel, wrapped in iridescent pink cellophane, Mylar with the black and white image printed on it, and has iridescent (and reflective!) vinyl adhered around the edges. Place this piece in an area with good lighting and watch as the light hits the iridescent vinyl and bounces back onto the walls in an ethereal light show. I have since lost the negatives again...
