Dutch photographer Martin Sweers is fascinated with how we treat flowers within their natural process of decay. The ongoing series ‘Holding’ consists currently of 8 works that show constructions of disregarded flowers. With this body of work he wanted to experiment how he could show the beauty of flowers that were too soon disregarded. It is a personal struggle of his to throw away flowers that are not new anymore. As we seemingly only partly enjoy the beauty of the youngest cycle of a flowers’ lifetime. Therefore he aims to preserve the flowers until they die. For Sweers this aligns with how he would like to strive for living life to the fullest, by experiencing each aspect of it. He started to collect flowers that were thrown away in public spaces, such as museums, restaurants and cafes. Back in his studio reconstructing them into fresh bouquets. Dependent on the state and different between strength of the flowers he starts adding renewed value to the flowers by using a specific technical process. The pictures contains a multitude of 100MP images for an amazing detailed larger than life print. The Print is made with a 12 Pigment printer on Canson Baryta Prestige. The prints are certificated by the Hahnemuhle certification program with a hologram sticker one on the artwork and one on a certificate signed by the artist.
