This timeless, solitary, figurative nude evokes the work of one of my biggest artistic inspirations, photographer Edward Steichen. With simple flowing lines in soft, contrasting light, this woman sits at rest before the camera. Her thoughts and intentions, and indeed her personality, are obscured from direct view. She evokes a timeless quality that crosses cultures and epochs. The anonymity of the subject allows the viewer to impart their own narratives upon the scene. This nude was my very first in what is now a career-long series. It inspired me to produce what has become a nearly 30 year exploration of the genre that expanded to include both studio and location shooting across the globe. Already included in many private collections, this original print is one of the last 5 remaining in the edition of 25.
