ABOUT THE ARTWORK

With this photography I show the prejudices that we make in the face of the obvious, the criticism without sufficient grounds, cataloguing the people we meet in our daily lives and labelling them, forgetting their complexity. // Limited edition fine art prints for collectors and galleries. She draws inspiration from Flemish painting, Japanese culture and other contemporary photographers. She combines it with philosophical literary works. Her recurring themes and interests are memory, identity and self-fiction. Barbara is best known for capturing the the idiosyncrasies of the mundane. She believes that creation happens through the interactions between people and their environment. Her style is a domestic style. Not homemade or amateur, domestic. A style that mixes the intimate and the daily, the informal and the affective.
