Statement: Our first introduction into the world is through our mother's watery womb As humans, our bodies are composed of 70% water. Water is an essential element of life, without which no being may survive. According to Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, the first and foremost basic human needs are the need for food, water, sleep, and warmth. Once these lower-level needs have been met, we can move on to the next level of needs, which are safety and security. I was born and raised in Vanderbijlpark, a small town in the Gauteng Provence of South Africa, in 1969. It's a heavily industrialised area where the sky is pale, grey, or brown. Not knowing what I wanted to do with my life, a friend suggested I further my education in photography. It was then that I found an outlet to the pressing need for expression, without the misunderstood external gesticulations that limit the souls' expression. The purpose behind my work is to share what I have learned, i.e. with every experience, the good and the bad, life loves, teaches, incubates, protects, nurtures, and sets us free to live and prosper if we so choose. At the age of 48, I left my hometown and moved to Cape Town, South Africa, where I currently reside, and the sky is always blue.
