ABOUT THE ARTWORK BLINDED BY HIS LOVE FOR THE SUN Beyond the achievements of any other mortal, blinded by his love for the sun, Icarus would risk all. Should some frontiers never be reached, as his father Daedalus guided? Reaching out beyond the Gods and the Heavens of Olympus Was Icarus destined to fall? Sages, Myths, Religion, Fairy tales, and heroic deeds have sculpted humanity in endless ways and forms. TECHNIQUE It was important to me to create this artwork as historically correct as I possibly could. If you look closely at the details, you'll find that they're flying above the island Crete, from where they escaped, above the Aegean sea. They're both wearing ancient bracelets from the METMuseum collection. Men in that time were smoothly shaven, but had long hair on their heads and sometimes a short beard. I had the pleasure to use a father and son for this depiction of the famous mythological tale, which happen to be my dad and brother. All elements are photographed at different locations in Europe at different times. Digitally painted together by hand. AWARDS The series has received several prestigious international awards since 2022 Among them are; 2022 – Moscow International Foto Awards (MIFA) – Bronze in Fine Art/Collage with ‘Icarus and Daedalus’ 2022 – International MUSE Photography Awards – Two times Gold with ‘Icarus and Daedalus’ in the categories Fine Art Other and Digital Enhance Photography
