Abstract, experimental photography is one of my main fields of artistic work, but regardless of the direction and field, I look for the way of capturing what is ephemeral, what escapes the possibility of our registration, what is easily repressed or remains on the verge of consciousness. I'm not interested in copying reality, or even adhering to it. I strive to reflect complex internal states. This particular piece is part of the ongoing series called 'Under eyelids' I have been creating since 2009, for which the starting point was the desire to reflect what appears under the eyelids, when I am on the border between dream and reality, when I fall asleep or wake up. These mirages, afterimages from dreams I mix with the light, gradually opening my eyelids. Then I look for a way to reflect it. For this purpose I invented my own technique which I have been developing constantly. I create a photographic construction for each photograph (this is a demanding, long-lasting process), which I later destroy. The image is created by passing pure light through them, which hits a photosensitive material, a paper, a negative or a matrix. The act of annihilating a photographic constructions is like a brutal process of forgetting one's dreams, there will never be another such image. On the one hand, the series is a study of light, and on the other, it is a study of deep internal states. In the series, I also explore the possibility of reaching the collective unconsciousness through dreamlike afterimages and grasping universal instincts and archetypes. Abstract, experimental photography is one of my main fields of artistic work, but regardless of the direction and field, I look for the possibility of capturing what is ephemeral, what escapes the possibility of our registration, what is easily repressed or remains on the verge of consciousness. I'm not interested in copying reality, or even adhering to it. I'm looking for what is risky and non-obvious, dissonances, cracks on reality. I strive to reflect complex internal states. One of such activities is a study of light – the series "Under eyelids", which I have been creating since 2009, and for which the starting point was the desire to reflect what appears under the eyelids, when I am on the border between dream and reality, when I fall asleep or wake up. These mirages, afterimages from dreams, which we forget after a while, and which sometimes remain under the surface and come back to us in various ways, I mix with the light, gradually opening my eyelids. At this point, the process of photographing, creating an image, begins. In this activity, each time a vision appears first, then I look for a way that will allow me to reflect a partially remembered and partly imaginary picture. For this purpose, I use the photographic constructions I create for each photograph, which I later destroy. The image is created by passing pure light through them, which hits a photosensitive material, a negative or a matrix. The act of annihilating a photographic constructions is like a brutal process of forgetting one's dreams, there will never be another such image, only its aberrations, attempts to recall. On the one hand, the series is a study of light, and on the other, it is a study of deep internal states. Each afterimage, like a dream, is associated with various emotional states, fears, obsessions, anxieties or, on the other hand, vague, fleeting feelings of bliss, peace, tranquility. In the series, I also explore the possibility of reaching the collective unconsciousness through dreamlike afterimages and grasping universal instincts and archetypes.
