About The Artwork

Photographs on ceramic sculptures. I use clay in two directions; one is manual modelling and the other is the search for visual expressions of its different physical transformations. In this series, through digital retouching, I propose deformation and mutations that dialogue with the construction process of my sculptures. In this way, these images are a reference for the projection of new physical forms. The visual result modifies the idea of existence of the real object, generating an interstice between reality and the fiction of the digitalised bodies.

In the relationship between the forms there is a narrative of proximity, of contact, of encounter, and it is probable that this narrative is not only composed of concepts but fundamentally of sensations. In Oscar Barbery's work, sculpture is the verb, it is the action and it is the subject, its formal constitution is the result of representations of the self-determined movement of matter: undefined bodies that attract, compose and project themselves. The relationship between them suggests a new nature or an amplified nature. A Latin American artist who has lived in Europe for more than 10 years, he works mainly with clay and its ceramic processes. He has been selected by the Museo internazionale delle ceramiche de Faenza in its 2021 residency programme and currently lives and works between Barcelona and Rimini, Italy. His work has been acquired by museums such as the MAC and the Museo Nacional de Arte de Bolivia. She holds a Master's degree in contemporary artistic creation from the University of Barcelona, where she developed POSTRE, a performance festival with 4 editions. She has had solo and group exhibitions and her work has been published in various Latin American contemporary art publications.
