Joshua Tree Stand Photograph - Limited Edition of 1

Inspired by the fantastic landscapes of the American Southwest. I've purposefully highlighted the dramatic topography and the comparative lushness of the high desert plain with false color film. With color infrared film I've isolated desert plants against warm cerulean blue skies painting them in a candy floss pink. Using B&W infrared and near infrared films I've centered stands of Joshua trees against black, cloud streaked skies. I've used purple emulsion films with plastic lenses and loaded toy cameras with B&W infrared film using opaque filters and long exposures in full sunlight creating halos and surreal patterns. The effect is to represent the desert not as it's experienced but as it may be processed in our memory.
