The portrayal of women's mouths as vases, from which flowers sprout, is a striking metaphor for fertility and female creative power. At the same time, it raises questions about the role of women in society, by seemingly turning them into an object of nature. Yet in their transformation into a blooming still life, there lies a delicate irony and a powerful statement about the strength and beauty of femininity.

The focus of ARTURUTRA is mouths. Yet these fragmented bodies do not conform to classical portraits. They often resemble staged still lifes. The works are characterized by a narrative ambiguity. The viewer sees and must fill in the missing elements themselves. Perhaps they view with the eyes constantly absent in the works. Then, the depicted mouths speak with the inner voice of the observer.
