I've always felt that something existed beyond what I could perceive with my eyes; that reality as I experienced it was fleeting, unstable, and quickly transformed by attention and will. Los Angeles seemed to embody this emotion. This image is part of a larger fine-art landscape project titled “Hollywood,” a place that exists as much on a map as it does in your mind. Using photography’s formal language of light, color, shadow, and space, neglected environments of a modern metropolis become places of private meditation and pause. Through photography’s attentive gaze, the work invites viewers reflection on the remarkable beauty of the everyday.
