Large canvas art "Moonlit Waters" is looking through the coral at the Moon light shinning through.

This image represents the results of mixing media, with chemistry between pigments creating dynamic compositions as they attract and repel, resulting in formations I manipulate to be of ocean, shore line, rocks, and or reef like impressions. In addition to paint brushes, I use my hands, air guns, rods, blow torch, and gravity.

It feels like I’m a sculptor more than a painter sometimes. The texture is the reef, rocks or land mass, the water is the liquid paint, the water spray bottle is the force of nature like rain, the hairdryer is the wind, the blowtorch is the sun, the gravity (tilting the board this way and that) is the tide.

A very multi directional piece, that has been printed with
environmentally friendly water-based Latex inks that have an indoor lifespan of around 80 years.
Strong poly-cotton canvas that’s tear and water resistant.
Signed and numbered Certificate of Authenticity.

Other sizes available on request.

Packed and rolled in a tube and delivered by courier.

I absolutely love being an artist, I work my craft full time. Thank you for your interest in my work!

Petra Meikle is an Australian contemporary artist creating expressive, large-scale coastal artworks inspired by the shifting tides, seascapes, and textures of the reef. Based in Cairns, her paintings are deeply influenced by the landscapes and marine life of Far North Queensland. Specializing in abstract ocean art and seascape compositions, Petra works with a blend of mixed media — including acrylic, ink, and natural texturing elements — to evoke movement, reflection, and light. Her style bridges the emotional with the environmental, creating coastal wall art that brings the sea into modern interiors. Her original seascape paintings and fine art prints are available worldwide, and have been featured in coastal homes, boutique interiors, and international art collections.
