Photography:C-type on Paper This work was named after Narcissus, a legendarily handsome young man in Greek mythology. He experiences a particularly extreme form of self-love which leads to his death and transformation into a narcissus flowerI wanted to create my interpretation of the myth in a digital print, where I modeled a cluster of geometries which covers the eyes of the protagonist from where he starts transforming into a flower. He blinded himself with his ego and as he repents tears start rolling down on his face which turns into gold streaks. But the repent is not enough to turn back the clock. Interviewed with ITSLIQUID. Newly emerged artist Akane was an established motion graphics designer when she decided to swap the client briefs for her own artistic endeavours. In less than a year since changing the course of her career, Akane’s multiverse-inspired works are quickly getting noticed. She has been named one to watch by Rome’s art lovers haven, Rossocinabro, and chosen as artist of the month by the leading art jobs listing site. Akane has also exhibited her digital prints and videos in multiple European galleries. Her interviews and work have also been featured in art publications and websites. Recently, augmented reality provided another dimension to her multiverse exploration. One recurrent theme in her art is the multiverse. She explores the idea of other versions of herself existing in other branches of reality at this very moment in time. Her work infuses futurism and ancient mythology with bizarre alternate realities. "I am interested in time and space and believe in parallel worlds. I explore the idea of having more dimensions in our world,” she enthuses. Finding new ways to experience art has also been a key element to her work. “Until recently, we’ve only been able to go to galleries and simply observe art. It is great, however, we live in times where people increasingly want to deepen their experiences, and interaction is a big part of it,” says Akane. Instead of leaving people to mere art observation, the artist used augmented reality to create a buzz and deliver an immersive exploration experience.
