Ocean with colorful sunrise sky Photograph - Limited Edition of 10

I read once that when Monet was painting his haystacks in sunrise or sunset light, he couldn't paint fast enough and kept changing canvases in an effort to capture the rapidly changing colors of light. The light, or the color of the morning, that most appealed to his imagination. This ocean sunrise scene was an experience much like that. The color changes were happening fast, probably less than 15 minutes before the peak colors dissipated and the normal blue-sky day formally began. I made no changes to the colors in this scene, but I did intensify them a bit, kind of like turning up the volume on a musical composition. The music doesn't change, only the intensity of the volume increases. It is amazing to see and capture colors like this. I always remember the story of Monet when a light even like this is happening. This image is from my "Horizon" portfolio of images. The horizon line is our first measurement of the planet. It provides balance, stability, and wonderment for what might lie beyond. The nature of the Florida peninsula centers around the weather as it interplays with the area’s land, water, sky, and flora, creating a rare beauty that can shift from sedate and friendly to powerful and threatening. The flatness of the terrain forces the horizon line to become an essential compositional element separating the land and water from the sky. This is the terroir for my creative spirit as I work to interpret this place. I am always thankfully excited when Nature gives me such a unique palette to use in my work.
