I was always curious to observe life, people, nature, and all that I came into contact with. My father gifted me an analog camera when I was 11 years old. From that moment on I taught myself how to mix chemicals, develop film, and print on paper. Initially, photography became a deeply personal and transformative practice, allowing me to better understand myself and the world we live in, to explore life and what is behind the ‘visible’. As I furthered my practice I realised how valuable it was to not only express my own perspective but to invoke the imagination and emotions of the viewer, to give space for a deeper meaning. Living in Bali for the past decade visual artist & photographer Alina Vlasova captures the uniqueness, beauty of plants and flowers whilst portraying the depth and hidden details of nature.
