Venice in the very early morning seems to be a fantastic film setting without any actor, gives you the feeling of walking in a metaphysical painting of de Chirico...full of magic and mystery. PIAZZA SAN MARCO, Venice, 2016 50×50 cm, Edition of 25 Giclée-Print (Hahnemuehle Photo Rag) behind Acrylic Glass on Alu-Dibond Personally signed and numbered on the reverse by the artist André Muehling works with a specific 4x5 inch lage-format camera exposing his motives on sheet film. This classic analogue approach in combination with fine art printing technique allows awe-inspiring results, rich in detail, acuity and depth. The archival Giclée pigment prints on Hahnemuehle Paper are laminated behind cratch-resistant high gloss acrylic glass and stabilised on a Alu-Dibond backing. The lamination behind acrylic glass gives the image exceptional plasticity, brilliant depth, and contrast, protects it from dust and impurities. Each photo has an aluminium profile frame on the back so it can be mounted on the wall immediately.

André Mühling was born in Berlin in 1963. He is a graduate of the Bavarian State Academy of Photography and has been running his Munich based studio for more than 20 years, working in the field of still life and architectural photography for customers from the print media and advertising industry. He has always been fascinated by the inexhaustible subject of landscape and started his ongoing, landscape-themed art-project. With a specitic 4x5 inch large-format camera he tries to obtain the very essence of landscape and nature, being revealed at a given moment. His work bears clear reference to romanticism, 19th century European landscape painting and the beginnings of photography. The photographs capture the spirit of a place, the Genius Loci , which hints at the beauty and grandeur of nature.
