Parc Monceau - Limited Edition 4 of 20 Photograph

This photograph was taken in Parc Monceau, Paris in 1991. Constructed in 1771, the park is in the 8th arrondissement and considered one of the most elegant garden in Paris. The park has numerous statues, a Renaissance archway belonging to the former Paris City Hall, spectacular trees, a wide variety of birds and a large pond. I arrived to the park early one morning in 1991 with my camera and a tripod in hand. The sunlight that morning was amazing. The statues throughout the park seemed to glow and I was struck by these columns, which looked both majestic and historic, in the early morning light. Traditionally, I shoot black and white film, but once I printed the image, I knew that hand-coloring the photograph would be the only way I could truly capture my experience and the essence of this image.
