I love beaches. The pebbles pressed into the eroded post by the sea caught my eye.

Born in London in 1958, Keith mainly uses equipment that is older than he is; Rolleiflex from the 1950s, folding Kodaks from the 1930s, even a 1905 mahogany, brass and leather Sanderson Field camera. He has been taking pictures since his father bought him a plastic Ilford Sprite in the 1960s. Keith now lives and works, with his wife, in the South of France.Keith began working with alternative processes after seeing the Salt Prints by W .H. Fox Talbot on a visit to Lacock Abbey in Wiltshire. He produces photographic prints using techniques formulated in Victorian times, these are: Cyanotype (iron compound), Salt Print (silver), Gum Bichromate (iron) and Van Dyke (iron/silver). The photographs are printed on a variety of watercolour papers in a range of sizes from 4 x 5 up to 20 x 24. This combination of vintage camera equipment, materials and processing techniques gives much of his work an impression of times past. He is an admirer of, and is inspired by, the works of Ansel Adams, Henri Cartier-Bresson and Jacques-Henri Lartigue. Find out more about alternative processes at
