This is a still life of non-organic garbage that I found in my neighborhood in Chicago on I-90. My intent was to showcase some of the garbage suffocating the planet and to implicate consumer culture. I also wanted to harness photography's power to transform and beautify. This is a darkroom print from a Hasselblad negative. This is a selenium-toned gelatin silver print on Foma warmtone fiber-based multicontrast paper.

I am a native Chicagoan, born 1968. Masters in Photography from Columbia College 1996. Exhibiting a few times a year in Chicago, also San Francisco, NYC. I teach photography full time in a public high school in a suburb of Chicago. I have been using the Holga camera for over 12 years now. I like how the body fits into the square frame. I also enjoy how the primitive plastic lens of the camera renders an image.
