This started out as an image of a bulletin board with faded colors during a visit to an urban neighborhood in Washington, DC. The more I looked at it the more I could see a picture of movement and energy, so I added a strong color palette that really brings out the interplay of color and form, and I...

My photographic journey began in the early 1970s with a 35mm film camera and a fascination with the magic of the darkroom. From developing black-and-white negatives to making color prints from slides in a makeshift apartment darkroom, I was captivated by the tactile, hands-on process of bringing images to life. Though I was initially reluctant to leave film behind, the transition to digital photography opened new creative possibilities—and I quickly embraced the precision, control, and freedom it offered. Having an engineering and mathematics background, I’ve always been drawn to the overlooked: the lines, shapes, patterns, and textures often hidden in everyday scenes. That analytical eye, combined with an artistic sensibility, led me naturally toward abstract and macro photography—genres that allow me to explore the extraordinary hidden within the ordinary. While my work begins with the camera, the final image may not resemble a photograph at all. Through a process of visual exploration and transformation, I push the boundaries of traditional photography—blurring the line between representation and abstraction. My goal is not to document, but to reimagine. To reveal the essence, emotion, or rhythm within a subject that might otherwise go unseen. Each piece that I create is crafted with meticulous attention to detail, from capture to print. Each is printed using the finest museum-quality archival papers, pigment inks, and giclee printing process to ensure longevity and richness of detail. I consider the print itself a final expression of the artwork—crafted with the same care and intention as the initial capture. Through my work, I invite viewers to slow down, look deeper, and discover the beauty in unexpected places.
