Nathalie de Zan (b. 1985, Toulouse, France) is a French multimedia and fine art photographer based in the United States. Known for her bold use of color, surreal compositions, and poetic sensibility, Nathalie creates works that merge autobiography, dream imagery, and contemporary visual culture. Her artistic journey began in childhood, encouraged by her grandmother, and led her to earn a Master of Fine Arts from Jaurès University, Toulouse (2010). Early influences include French and German tales, feminism, and pop art, elements that continue to inform her work. In Paris, she trained in photographic studio techniques under Patrick Imbert at the Collège de France. Nathalie held her first exhibition in 2009 and has since shown her art across France, Italy, and the United States. In 2016, a transformative trip to Japan sparked her exploration of perspective and sharp geometric forms. She relocated to the U.S. in 2017 and currently lives and works in Jersey City, New Jersey. Her practice blends color, absurdity, sensuality, and narrative. Strongly autobiographical, her art often reflects her deep bond with her twin sister, feminist themes, and dream-inspired mythology. The result is a body of work that feels at once intimate, surreal, and universally resonant. Recognition & Awards Named a Top 10 Winner of the AD ART SHOW 2024 – work showcased nationwide on Outfront Media billboards. Recipient of the 2023 Individual Artist Fellowship by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts. Commissioned poster design for the LGBTQI+ Film Festival in Occitanie, France. Her limited-edition artworks are collected internationally and available through exhibitions, Saatchi Art, and Big Cartel. Nathalie continues to develop her practice in large-format photography, exploring color as both sensual material and emotional language. 📍 Keywords: contemporary artist Jersey City, French multimedia artist, fine art photography, surreal photography, feminist art, dream-inspired art, large-format photography, colorful contemporary art.
