Renatus is a first name of Latin origin which means "born again". This body of work is inspired by the past few years of my life wherein I found new meaning to my craft. Its about seeing the light in the darkest hour, but more so, its about becoming the light.

Chris Slabber is a mixed media conceptual artist. Formerly trained in Graphic Design and Illustration, Slabber gradually transitioned from commercial artist to fine artist using his knowledge of craft and composition gained through 15 years of working as a professional creative in advertising and design. His works are known for their heavily textured characteristics, layered with symbolism. "Its been an amazing transition using my knowledge of photoshop and interpreting it in an analog way. There is no undo shortcut in fine arts, only perseverance". During his commercial career Chris has achieved international success by winning multiple international awards including Art Director's Club, Cannes Lion, A' Design Awards, Loeries and Pendoring. "Because of my advertising background I tend to chase concepts therefore searching for the best execution needed to compliment each concept".
